Matthew Jonathan Rosseinsky ist ein britischer Chemiker. Er erwarb 1987 seinen Bachelor in Chemie am St. John's College in Oxford und 1990 seinen Dr. phil. am Merton College in Oxford bei Peter Day. Dann arbeitete er für zwei Jahre als Postdoc an den A.T.&T. Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, wo er mit die Supraleitfähigkeit von Alkalimetall-Fulleriden entdeckte. 1992 wurde er Dozent am Laboratorium für anorganische Chemie der Universität Oxford und 1999 Professor für anorganische Chemie an der University of Liverpool. In 2017, he was awarded the Davy Medal of the Royal Society for “his advances in the design and discovery of functional materials, integrating the development of new experimental and computational techniques.” He gave the Muetterties Lectures at UC Berkeley and the Lee Lectures at the University of Chicago in 2017. He was a member of the Science Minister’s Advanced Materials Leadership Council from 2014-2016, and of the governing Council of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council from 2015-2019.
