The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise debuted in 1982 with the creation of American company Mattel and the toyline of the same name. Le soin apporté par les producteurs Lou Scheimer et Hal Sutherland ainsi que les nombreux scénaristes sont pour beaucoup dans le succès de la série. Un autre dessin animé a vu le jour en 2002 par le studio Mike Young Production (MYP). Nous pouvons y retrouver la plupart des personnages principaux mais leur aspect graphique a été modernisé.
