Michael Peter Kaye (died December 17, 2017) was an American surgeon and researcher who co-founded the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) in 1981. He developed the society's registry and edited the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. Brought up on the south side of Chicago and completing early medical training at Loyola University Strich School of Medicine, he spent ten years in heart transplant research at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, becoming professor at the University of Minnesota in 1980. He died in 2017 at the age of 82.
