Itani was known for his technique and agility, as well as for his skill in controlling the ball in unconventional ways. He was an ambidextrous, offensive full-back who was capable of playing on both flanks. Despite being only 1.61 m (5.3 ft) tall, Itani could jump to reach high balls. He was also known for his off-field antics; he would play practical jokes, especially on trips abroad with his teams. (en)
