البروتوكول الاختياري لاتفاقية حقوق الطفل بشأن اشتراك الأطفال في النزاعات المسلحة هي معاهدة دولية حيث تتفق الدول على: 1. * حظر تجنيد الأطفال تحت سن 18 سنة في الجيش. 2. * ضمان اعفاء المتطوعين العسكريين تحت سن 18 عاما من المشاركة مباشرة في الأعمال العدائية. اعتمدت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة على المعاهدة على أنه بروتوكول إضافي لاتفاقية حقوق الطفل التي كتبها القرار 54/263 في 25 مايو 2000. دخل البروتوكول حيز النفاذ في 12 فبراير 2002. يتطلب البروتوكول من الحكومات التصديق لضمان عدم تجنيد المتطوعين الأطفال تحت 18 سنة و«اتخاذ الدول الأطراف جميع التدابير الممكنة عمليا لضمان عدم اشتراك أفراد قواتها المسلحة الذين لم يبلغوا سن 18 عاما مباشرة في الأعمال العدائية». يحظر على الجهات الفاعلة غير الحكومية وقوات حرب العصابات عن تجنيد أي شخص دون سن 18 سنة لأي غرض من الأغراض. اعتبارا من ديسمبر عام 2014 صدقت 159 دولة على البروتوكول بينما وقعت 14 دولة أخرى ولكنها لم تصدق عليها. The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict (OPAC), also known as the child soldier treaty, is a multilateral treaty whereby states agree to: 1) prohibit the conscription into the military of children under the age of 18; 2) ensure that military recruits are no younger than 16; and 3) prevent recruits aged 16 or 17 from taking a direct part in hostilities. The treaty also forbids non-state armed groups from recruiting anyone under the age of 18 for any purpose. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the treaty as a supplementary protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child by resolution 54/263 on 25 May 2000. The protocol came into force on 12 February 2002. The treaty consists of thirteen articles. As of September 2022, 172 states are party to the protocol. A further 8 states have signed but not ratified it and 17 states have not signed it. (en)
Protokol Opsional tentang Keterlibatan Anak dalam Konflik Bersenjata (bahasa Inggris: Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict, OPAC), juga dikenal sebagai traktat , adalah sebuah dimana negara-negara sepakat untuk: 1) melarang di bawah usia 18 tahun; 2) memastikan agar rekrutan militer tidak lebih muda dari usia 16 tahun; dan 3) mencegah keterlibatan rekrutan yang berusia 16 atau 17 tahun dalam pertempuran. Traktat tersebut juga melarang melakukan perekrutan terhadap seseorang di bawah usia 18 tahun untuk keperluan apapun. (in)
