Parthenin is a chemical compound classified as a sesquiterpene lactone. It has been isolated from Parthenium hysterophorus. It is genotoxic, allergenic, and an irritant. Parthenin is believed to be responsible for the dermatitis caused by Parthenium hysterophorus.
