Phanote or Phanota (Ancient Greek: Φανότη), or Phanoteia (Φανωτεία), was a strongly fortified ancient Greek town of Chaonia located in the region of Epirus. The town's location was of military/strategic importance as it stood in the midst of a valley surrounded by an amphitheatre of mountains, through which there are only two narrow passes. It lies about halfway between the sea and the Antigonean passes, and was therefore of importance to the Romans when they were advancing from Illyria in 169 BCE. Its site is tentatively located near the modern Raveni.

Ο αρχαίος οικισμός, πάνω σε φυσικά οχυρό λόφο ύψους 85 μ. δίπλα ακριβώς από τον Καλαμά, ανάμεσα στα χωριά Αγ. Γεώργιος και Γεροπλάτανος, έχει έκταση 53 στρέμματα. Durante la tercera guerra macedónica, en el 169 a. C., Fánote, que estaba fortificada, fue atacada por un ejército de 6000 hombres entre los que había soldados de Caonia y Tesprotia bajo el mando del romano , pero tal expedición resultó un fracaso debido a la resistencia de la guarnición que había dejado Perseo de Macedonia. Más tarde, en el 167 a. C., otro ejército al mando del romano Lucio Anicio Galo marchó contra las ciudades de Epiro y la ciudad de Fánote fue la primera que se le rindió.
