Les pleurastrofícies (Pleurastrophyceae) són una classe d'algues verdes. Aquesta classe va ser creada per Mattox and Stewart el 1984, contenint quatre gèneres. Les classificacions més recents tendeixen a dividir aquest grup. D'una banda, sembla un grup germana del clade UTC clade (Chlorophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, i Ulvophyceae), essent part del (parafilètic) Prasinophyceae. Els altres tres gèneres eren , , i , i la majoria de les seves espècies s'han posat a Trebouxiophyceae. Tanmateix, , que era l'espècie tipus de Pleurastrophyceae, queda fora de Chlorophyceae.

On the one hand, Tetraselmis seems to be a sister to the so-called UTC clade (Chlorophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, and Ulvophyceae), thus making it part of the (paraphyletic) Prasinophyceae. The other three genera were Pleurastrum, Trebouxia, and , and most of the species which had been in those genera have been placed in the Trebouxiophyceae. However, , which had been specified as the type of Pleurastrophyceae, turns out to be part of the Chlorophyceae.
