The politics of the Faroe Islands, an autonomous country (Danish: land) of the Kingdom of Denmark, function within the framework of a parliamentary, representative democratic dependency, whereby the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. The Faroe Islands are politically associated with the Kingdom of Denmark but have been self-governing since 1948. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Løgting. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature and the responsibility of Denmark. As of October 25, 2007, the Faroe Islands became one electoral district.

Archipelag posiada własny parlament, zwany Løgting, na czele którego stoi premier, a także sześcioosobową Radę Ministrów, tak zwaną Landsstýrið. Istnieje tam system wielopartyjny. Wyspy Owcze są politycznie związane z Danią, posiadają jednak stale rozszerzającą się autonomię, a od 1948 dzięki Zasadzie Samostanowienia są ponownie samorządne, jeśli chodzi o politykę wewnętrzną. Władza wykonawcza spoczywa więc całkowicie w rękach Landsstýrið, ustawodawczą zaś Rada dzieli z Løgtingiem. Prócz polityki zagranicznej Dania dzierży także władzę sądowniczą. (pl) Färöarna är ett autonomt område inom Konungariket Danmark, så Danmarks statsöverhuvud (för närvarande Margrethe II) är formellt överhuvud även över Färöarna. I praktiken har Färöarna ett lokalt parlamentariskt stryrelseskick, och styrs därutöver i vissa avseenden av Danmarks regering. De färöiska väljarna far inflytande över politiken, dels genom att de väljer Lagtinget (Färöarnas parlament), dels genom att de väljer två ledamöter i Folketinget (Danmarks parlament), och dels genom då och då förekommande beslutande folkomröstningar. Den politiker som är partiledare för det partiet som får flest röster till lagtinget blir även oftast lagman (Färöiska: Løgmaður), det vill säga chef för (Färöiska: Landsstyri, Färöarnas självstyrelseregering).
