بروميثيوس (بالألمانية: Prometheus) هي قصيدة من تأليف الأديب الألماني يوهان فولفغانغ فون غوته، كتب غوته القصيدة بين 1772 و 1774، ونُشرت في 1789 بعد نشر غير مصرح له بواسطة عام 1785. عنوان القصيدة هو اسم أحد الجبابرة في الميثولوجيا الإغريقية، والذي يظهر في القصيدة ويتحدى الإله (على أنه زيوس). القصيدة تعد من أهم الأعمال في حركة العاصفة والدفع في الأدب الألماني. تم أدائها كموسيقى من قبل وفرانز شوبرت .

Princip chvalozpěvu je zde ale obrácen, protože postava mytického Promethea bohy nikterak nechválí, ale vzpurně i pohrdavě oslovuje Dia i ostatní bohy, ve kterých vidí nelítostné a parazitující postavy, závislé na obětech důvěřivých lidí. Sám se také staví bohům na roveň. Báseň byla několikrát zhudebněna, například roku 1809, Franzem Schubertem roku 1819, Hugo Wolfem roku 1889 nebo roku 1993. Česky byla báseň vydána v překladu Otokara Fischera roku 1916, 1927, 1949, 1955, 1973 a 1979. Το ποίημα γράφτηκε μεταξύ 1772 και 1774 και δημοσιεύτηκε για πρώτη φορά το 1789 κατόπιν μιας ανώνυμης και μη εξουσιοδοτημένης δημοσίευσης το 1785 από τον Φρίντριχ Χάινριχ Τζάκομπι. Πρόκειται για ένα σημαντικό έργο του κινήματος Θύελλα και Ορμή. Στις πρώτες εκδόσεις των Απάντων του εμφανίστηκε στον Τόμο Β΄ των ποιημάτων του Γκαίτε στο τμήμα με τα Διάφορα Ποιήματα, λίγο μετά την Ωδή των Πνευμάτων πάνω από τα Νερά και το Χειμερινό ταξίδι στο Χαρζ. Ακολουθείται άμεσα από τον «Γανυμήδη», και τα δύο ποιήματα μαζί θεωρούνται ζευγάρι. Και τα δύο είναι της περιόδου 1770-1775. Ο Προμηθέας είναι το δημιουργικό και επαναστατικό πνεύμα που, εξορισμένο από τους θεούς, αντιμετωπίζει τον Δία με περιφρόνηση και απαξίωση. Χαρακτηρίζεται από πάθος στον λόγο του, από ορμή και ευαισθησία, αναφερόμενος στο μοναχικό παρελθόν του. Αντίθετα, ο Γανυμήδης εκπροσωπεί την παιδιάστικη επιθυμία για ένωση με τον θεό, τον λατρεύει και παρασύρεται από αυτόν. Ως ανθρωπιστής ποιητής, ο Γκαίτε παρουσιάζει και τις δύο ταυτότητες, ως πτυχές και μορφές της ανθρώπινης κατάστασης. Στο κλασικό σκηνικό ο ήρωας απευθύνεται στον Βιβλικό Θεό αρχίζοντας «Da ich ein Kind war» που σημαίνει «Όταν ήμουν παιδί»: η χρήση του Da είναι διακριτική, και στον Γκαίτε θυμίζει τη Λουθηρανική μετάφραση της Πρώτης Επιστολής προς Κορινθίους, 13:11 του Απόστολου Παύλου: « Όταν ήμουν νήπιο, μιλούσα ως νήπιο, σκεφτόμουν ως νήπιο, έκρινα ως νήπιο. Prometheus (1774) was planned as a drama but not completed, but this poem draws upon it. Prometheus is the creative and rebellious spirit which, rejected by God, angrily defies him and asserts itself; Ganymede is the boyish self which is adored and seduced by God. One is the lone defiant, the other the yielding acolyte. As the humanist poet, Goethe presents both identities as aspects or forms of the human condition. Although the setting is classical, the address to the Biblical God is suggested by the section beginning "Da ich ein Kind war..." ("When I was a child"): the use of Da is distinctive, and by it Goethe evokes the Lutheran translation of Saint Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians, 13:11: "Da ich ein Kind war, da redete ich wie ein Kind..." ("When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things"). Unlike Paul, Goethe's Prometheus grew up to disbelieve in the divine heart moved to pity for the afflicted. Prometheus's reference to making man in his image draws ironically, and strongly, on Luther's translation of the words of God in Genesis 1:26 ("Laßt uns Menschen machen, ein Bild, das uns gleich sei").
