Samuel L. Stanley Jr. (born January 11, 1954) is an American educator, biomedical researcher, and was the university president of Michigan State University from 2019 until November 2022. He formerly served as the president of Stony Brook University from 2009 to 2019. Stanley is one of the founding directors of the Midwest Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research. On October 13, 2022, Stanley announced his resignation as president of Michigan State University, which took effect on November 4, 2022.
