Er wurde als konservativer Unterhausabgeordneter von Kanada für den Wahlbezirk von Lévis—Bellechasse (Québec) bei den Wahlen 2006, 2008 und 2011 gewählt. Bei der Unterhauswahl 2015 gewann er das Mandat im Wahlbezirk Bellechasse — Les Etchemins — Lévis. Im Kabinett Harper war er von Mai 2011 bis Juli 2013 Minister für Veteranenangelegenheiten, von Februar bis Juli 2013 Minister für Frankophonie und von Juli 2013 bis 2015 Minister für öffentliche Sicherheit und Notfallbereitschaft. - Steven Blaney (né le 8 avril 1965) est un ingénieur civil, homme d'affaires et homme politique canadien. Lors des élections fédérales canadiennes de 2006, il est élu député de la circonscription québécoise de Lévis—Bellechasse à la Chambre des communes du Canada, sous la bannière du Parti conservateur du Canada. Il restera député de cette circonscription, renommée Bellechasse–Les Etchemins–Lévis en 2015, jusqu'à son retrait de la politique fédérale en 2021. En mai 2011, il accède au conseil des ministres du gouvernement Harper à titre de ministre des Anciens Combattants. Il devient ministre de la Francophonie à partir du 22 février 2013, avant d'occuper du 15 juillet 2013 au 4 novembre 2015, le poste de ministre de la Sécurité publique et de la Protection civile du Canada. En 2017, il est candidat à la direction du Parti conservateur du Canada. Il terminera neuvième. Il prend sa retraite comme député de la circonscription québécoise de Bellechasse–Les Etchemins–Lévis en 2021 à la fin de son mandat. L'ex-ministre libérale provinciale du Québec Dominique Vien lui succède comme députée du Parti conservateur du Canada. (fr)

He served as the Minister of Public Safety Canada (July 15, 2013 – November 4, 2015) and previously as the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State for La Francophonie in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper (May 18, 2011 – July 14, 2013). He has represented the Québec riding of Lévis—Bellechasse in the Canadian House of Commons since the 2006 federal election. Despite his anglophone-sounding name, Blaney is a Francophone. He was reelected in the 2015 election. In 2017, he unsuccessfully ran for Conservative party leader. (en)
