Das Val Vignun ist ein alpines Hochtal im schweizerischen Kanton Graubünden. Es stellt zusätzlich zum San-Bernardino-Pass einen Übergang vom Misox ins Rheinwald dar. Das Val Vignun führt von San Bernardino in nordöstlicher Richtung in das Val Curciusa, ein Seitental des Rheinwald. Es ist rund 5 Kilometer lang und wird von der Ri de Fontanalba durchflossen, die sich bei San Bernardino mit der Moësa vereinigt.

Ein gut markierter Bergweg führt vom Dorf San Bernardino in mehreren Stufen zur Alphütte Cassina de Vignun (2115 m ü. M.), wo das eigentliche Hochtal beginnt. Das Tal steigt gleichmässig an bis zur Passhöhe Strec de Vignun (2372 m ü. M.) (auf Lombardisch Vignunsengpass), wo es ins Val Curciusa übergeht. Über die Strec de Vignun verläuft die Europäische Wasserscheide. Mitten im Tal erhebt sich auf einer Höhe von 2300 m zwischen zwei Schwemmebenen der mächtige Felshügel der Motta de Caslasc. Auf der breiten felsigen Kuppe mit einer Ausdehnung von rund 100 auf 60 Metern finden sich am nördlichen und südlichen Rand des Plateaus Terrassen, die wohl künstlich angelegt wurden. Eine Feudalburg ist aufgrund der Höhenlage auszuschliessen. Vermutlich handelt es sich um eine hochalpine Siedlung aus unbestimmter Zeit mit wehrhaftem Charakter oder/und einen Fluchtplatz. Mauerreste sind keine auszumachen. Nördlich des Tales liegt der Piz Uccello, der vom Val Vignun über einen markierten Bergweg zu erreichen ist. Im Süden liegt der Piz de la Lumbreida. Das Tal ist abgesehen von der Alphütte vollkommen unberührt geblieben. Wegen seiner besonderen Schönheit wird das Gebiet des San-Bernardino-Passes und des Val Vignun als Landschaft von nationaler Bedeutung eingestuft. Val Vignun stretches in a northeasterly direction from San Bernardino towards the Val Curciusa, which is a side valley of the Rheinwald. It is about 5 kilometers long and is drained by the , which flows into the Moesa near San Bernardino. A well-marked trail leads from the village of San Bernardino in several stages to the Alpine hut Cassina de Vignun (2'115 m), where the real Alpine valley begins. The valley rises evenly to the pass of Strec de Vignun (2'373 m), where it connects to the Val Curciusa. The European Watershed runs across the Strec de Vignun pass. The mighty rock Motta Caslasc rises to a height of 2300 m in the middle of the valley, between two alluvial plains. The rocky knoll has dimensions of approximately 100 by 60 meters. At the northern and southern edges of the plateau, terraces are found that were probably artificially created. A feudal castle can be ruled out, on the grounds of the high altitude. Perhaps this was high-altitude settlement from an indefinite period, used for defense or escape. Remains of walls have not been identified. The Piz Uccello lies north of the valley and can be reached using a marked mountain path. To the south lies the Piz de la Lumbreida. Apart from several alpine huts, and possibly the Motta Caslasc, the valley has not been developed. Because of its exceptional beauty, the area of the San Bernardino Pass and Val Vignun as a landscape is considered of national importance. (en) |
