Das Tal zwischen dem Heiligtum und Askri wurde in der Antike Tal der Musen genannt, weshalb das Heiligtum gelegentlich auch Tal der Musen genannt wird. Etwa 2 km westlich des Musenheiligtums befindet sich die Quelle Hippokrene.
