Ventilation-perfusion coupling is the relationship between ventilation and perfusion processes, which take place in the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Ventilation is the movement of gas during breathing, and perfusion is the process of pulmonary blood circulation, which delivers oxygen to body tissues.
