Als Verbandspokal werden in Deutschland gemeinhin die Fußball-Pokalwettbewerbe der Männer und Frauen der 21 Landesverbände des DFB bezeichnet, die jede Saison ausgetragen werden. Wenn sich das Gebiet eines Verbandes mit dem eines Bundeslandes deckt, ist die Bezeichnung Landespokal üblich. Die Verbands- und Landespokale beziehen ihre sportliche Bedeutung in erster Linie aus dem Umstand, dass die Pokalsieger in der Folgesaison für den DFB-Pokal bzw. den DFB-Pokal der Frauen qualifiziert sind, wo sie sich mit Mannschaften der 1. und 2. Bundesliga bzw. der 1. und 2. Frauen-Bundesliga messen können. Jeder der 21 Landesverbände hat dadurch mindestens einen festen Pokal-Startplatz für „unterklassige“ Vereine.

Z Verbandspokalu vítěz postupuje do DFB-Pokalu, což kromě sportovní prestiže přináší i ekonomickou injekci. To skvěle motivuje právě týmy z amatérských soutěží. Do DFB-Pokalu postupují na divokou kartu také poražení finalisté Niedersachsenpokalu a Westfalenpokalu. Místo navíc má právo udělit ještě bavorský svaz, ten však uděluje výjimku vítězi regionální ligy Bavorska. Tyto 3 svazy mají právo udílet divokou kartu, protože mají největší registrovanou základnu fotbalistů v Německu. Všechna finálová utkání vysílá televize ARD. (de) La Copa Asociación Alemana (en alemán, Verbandspokal) es una competición de copa regional a nivel de clubes en Alemania que se divide en 21 competiciones de copa regionales con el objetivo de obtener la clasificación a la Copa de Alemania, el torneo de copa de fútbol más importante del país. Los equipos de la Bundesliga y 2. Bundesliga no les es permitido participar en los torneos ya que están clasificados directamente al torneo de copa nacional, mientras que los equipos de la 3. Bundesliga y Regionalliga están obligados a participar a excepción de los equipos filiales.
