Die World Outgames ist ein Sport- und Kulturfestival von und für Lesben, Schwule, Bisexuelle und Transpersonen, welches erstmals vom 29. Juli bis zum 5. August 2006 im kanadischen Montréal stattfand.

Los World Outgames fueron patrocinados por la Asociación Internacional del Deporte Lésbico Gay . Los Outgames no deben ser confundidos con los Gay Games. L'événement a été créé en 2006 à la suite d'une controverse apparue lors de l'attribution des 7es Gay Games à la ville de Montréal. Ces Gay games existent depuis 1982. La Fédération qui les organise estimait que les plans proposés par le Comité Montréal 2006 entraineraient – malgré des subventions publiques – des dépenses impossibles à assumer. Elle jugeait par ailleurs que ce comité exigeait trop d'autonomie, elle a donc pris la décision d'établir les Gay games à Chicago. Néanmoins les organisateurs montréalais ont jugé bon de maintenir leurs propres jeux. Ils ont obtenu le soutien de la (EGLSF), qui organise les EuroGames. La fédération européenne s'intéressait alors à la création d'un événement d'envergure internationale. Ensemble, les organisateurs montréalais et la fédération européenne ont créé la GLISA, structure organisatrice des Outgames. La participation aux épreuves des outgames n'obéit à aucune restriction, ils sont ouverts à toutes et à tous, sans distinction d’orientation sexuelle, de religion, de nationalité, d'âge, d'aptitudes sportives ou artistiques ni d'état de santé. Não há um padrão mínimo imposto para ser qualificado aos Outgames. O único requisito é: o desejo de apoiar os ideais dos Outgames. Cidadãos com necessidades específicas ou inabilidades são intergrados como participantes aptos, voluntários, juízes e espectadores. A segunda edição dos World Outgames será realizada na cidade de Copenhagen, na Dinamarca, em 2009. A desembargadora do estado do Rio Grande do Sul e presentemente (em 2006) candidata ao Supremo Tribunal de Justiça (federal), Dra Maria Berenice Dias, foi escolhida e aceitou o título honorífico de embaixatriz oficial do World Outgames/2006 no Brasil. Montreal possui a segunda maior população francófona do mundo, Paris decididamente é a maior (sendo que Paris possui uma das maiores comunidades portuguesas fora de Portugal). Ainda assim, outros idiomas também são praticados usualmente em Montreal, principalmente o inglês que é a língua majoritária no Canadá como um todo. O nome "Montreal" é uma forma de se escrever Mont-Royal, um ponto geográfico elevado localizado cerca da cidade, bem ao centro da ilha. Montreal, assim como o Rio de Janeiro, no Brasil, é uma cidade muito requisitada para sediar eventos internacionais. Motreal é considerada uma cidade atraente e amigável. Diz-se que ela é a cidade mais européia da América do Norte.
