Zerovalent iron (ZVI) is jargon that describes forms of iron metal used for Groundwater remediation. ZVI serves as a reducing agent. ZVI operates by electron transfer from Fe0 to the pollutant. For organochlorine pollutants, Fe2+ and Cl− are produced.
