October Continuing Education Activities

New “Fall Into Nutrition” Wellness Program

If you are looking for a fun way to learn about nutrition, receive recipes, tips and more — this program is for you! This wellness program is nine weeks long and starts Oct.14.

DMU Grand Rounds: Medication-Assisted Treatment, Oct. 17, 2024

​In 2021, data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found that, in Iowa, 18.8% of the population has a substance use disorder, placing the state 12th in the U.S. for SUD prevalence. The upcoming DMU Grand Rounds session will address this public health issue.

Faculty Development: IAMSE Fall 2024 Series, Session #4

The Center for Educational Enhancement invites you to the fourth session in the IAMSE Fall 2024 series, Push and Pull: Navigating Strains in Health Education titled “Stigma in Medicine: The Power of Language.”

O.T.D. Photo Gallery

​Join us from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, as the first-year Doctor of Occupational Therapy students showcase an engaging photo gallery on the significance of “occupation.” Located on the second-floor pathway, this exhibition aims to enlighten our DMU community about the vital role occupations play in our lives.

Annual Per Diem Rates

The U.S. General Services Administration sets per diem rates annually. New rates will be effective Oct. 1, 2024. Travelers should reference the per diem rates for the corresponding travel dates for eligible travel reimbursement requests.

Health Care Appreciation Community Night, Oct. 8

​Come join us from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, to unlock athletic potential by unleashing your mental edge. Athletes will learn more about ways to conquer performance anxiety, overcome challenges, build focus, develop a winning mindset and achieve athletic dominance. Attendance is free.

The Center for Educational Enhancement invites you to the faculty development session “Reflections from the 2024 IAMSE Annual Meeting” at noon Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Iowa Diabetes + Wellness Summit, Nov. 5, 2024

​You are invited to attend this continuing education activity, which will take place in person at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa. The Summit will provide an engaging forum to discuss the latest practices, opportunities, resources and tools for diabetes prevention, control and management.
