Michael Andrew Law (Chinese: 羅卓睿; born Law Cheuk Yui 13 November 1982 in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong contemporary artist,[1][2] painter, film producer,[3] art dealer, and art gallery owner.[4][5]

Law's early work consists mainly of comic and Illustrations, which have been published in various publications including Kung Kao Po, Catholic Children's Bible and various other prayer books.

In 2006 Law devoted himself as a fine art painter and made portraits of several Catholic figures and Hong Kong celebrities, which have been exhibited internationally since 2006.[1]

As a fine artist, Law has worked on a series of large scales realism figurative works. Humanity is an oil painting work, set in a grass ground in Hong Kong Island, that depicts a cluster of children sharing the corner of the peaceful nature while adults crowded toward the money-worship jungle.

The works have been exhibited at The Avenue of Stars and Queen Victoria Street, Hong Kong in 2009.[6]

Portraits for Catholic Church

Another strong element in Law's career are paintings with biblical themes. He completed oil painting portraits of various Catholic Church figures, including Pope John Paul II,[7] Pope Benedict XVI,[8] Mother Teresa,[9] has since exhibited nationally and recognized by the church, collectors included Joseph Zen Ze-kiun, the Chinese Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Portraits for David Lynch Foundation

[edit]

Law's exhibit "From Unmanifest to Manifest in the Art of Hyper Pop Surrealism" helped raise fund for the charity mission of David Lynch Foundation[10] which aims to reduce the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations everywhere.[11] The exhibition included oil painted portraits of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,[5] president John Hagelin,[5] filmmaker David Lynch,[5] professor Fred Travis,[5] and Bob Roth,[5] chief executive of the David Lynch Foundation.

Law also known for his work as film producer.[3] He produced and directed a dozen promotional music videos and two documentaries films with his own production group in Hong Kong.[12]
