Elizabeth Elkins Sanders

SANDERS, Elizabeth Elkins, author, born in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1762; died there, 10 August, 1851. She was educated in her native town, married Thomas Sanders in 1782, and was greatly esteemed for her extensive benevolence. She corresponded with many eminent persons, and published " Conversations, principMly on the Aborigines of North America" (Salem, Massachusetts, 1828); " First Settlers of New England" (Boston, 1829); and "Reviews of a Part of Prescott's 'History of Ferdinand and Isabella., ' and of Campbell's ' Lectures on Poetry'" (1841). She also contributed to the press on moral and religious subjects.
