Simeon Olcott

OLCOTT, Simeon, senator, born in Connecticut, 1 October, 1735; died in Charlestown, New Hampshire, '22 February, 1815. He was graduated at Yale in 1761, studied law, and practised at Charlestown. In 1784 he was appointed chief justice of the court of common pleas, and in 1790 a judge of the superior court, of which he was made chief judge in 1795. On the resignation of Samuel Livermore, he was elected to the United States senate, serving from 7 December, 1801, till 3 March, 1805.
