Summary: Somebody had to babysit the kids. Zack seemed like the best candidate.
Notes: Prompted by fataltea with ice cream and puppies.

Perhaps playing with those kids on your typically warm summer day had been a bad idea. The assumption behind their activities for that day involved keeping some of the younger children of Gongaga out of mischief while their parents were busy in the fields with their harvest. The sweet corn was ripe for the picking and all the adults knew that they were bound to make a small fortune from the tiny golden nuggets as they quickly sought after one Zack Fair to look after the kids for a couple days.

The compensation had been more than adequate as Zack concocted the notion of letting the kids chase him through the city until they either tuckered themselves out. Either Zack's plan had backfired on him in an unthinkable fashion or... the kids had convinced the teen that it was okay for them to eat ice cream at ten in the morning. Who knew what was going through his head and their minds as about a dozen small children sat quietly, slurping at ice cream cones in their sticky hands.

Something honestly made the young man glad that he was on leave from SOLDIER and that the dogs were out in the fields.

It was going to be a long day.
