3D is a young and wealthy Autobot who took a liking to science- chemistry in particular- since he was protoformed.

He works for the ministry of science alongside Perceptor, and, producing new chemicals that are used in war, consequently needs a weapon for himself in the appropriate event.

3D uses Blurr's saw that mounts on his forearm. It is the "hood" of his vehicle mode.
