Market Day [open] (original) (raw)
Who: Isabella & anyone who wants some free play
What: Market day!
Where: Nottingham
When: November 15, morning
Isabella breathed a sigh of relief when the door closed behind her. It was as if a curtain had been lifted once she'd slipped out of the house, as if she could finally breathe and move freely. She didn't linger, for if her husband knew she'd gone out alone he probably wouldn't be happy. Instead, she quickly slipped into the street traffic and headed north towards the marketplace, which would be filled today with booths and wares and bustle. She had a few things she needed, but mostly she wanted to be out.
She took her time looking through the wares of the market, examining what was on sale and who sold it and for what price. It was, truth be told, a rather meager showing, despite the fact that the weather had been good this year. It didn't bode well for the winter. Still, there was plenty to look at, and the herbalist, at least, had plenty to offer. She knew her trade and her wares smelled pungent and fresh. Isabella asked quietly for a few things and tucked the parcels away in her purse. There was one good thing about the Nottingham market--the number of dyers in town, many of whom had hung their wares on display, made for relatively private transactions.
