This Saturday night Collaboraction will throw its most revolutionary fundraising party to date with their 9th annual CARNAVAL: Let Them Eat Cake! party at the Double Door. The venue will be transformed into a party battle zone with live musical performances, radical costumes, burlesque, immersive theatrical interludes, two floors of dancing and bottomless drinks.
"With revolution in the air, Collaboraction gathers its diverse and vibrant colony of artists to create an immersive artistic experience that vibrates with bacchanalian insurrection. Part party and part living art installation, our 9th annual CARNAVAL will be a debaucherous deconstruction of the history of revolution in France and throughout the globe," said Anthony Moseley, Artistic and Executive Director of Collaboraction, in the press release.
Revolution-inspired performances include:
Chucha Libre, a neo-burlesque group starring acclaimed stage actresses Carolyn Hoerdemann and Sandra Delgado.
Environmental Encroachment, the exuberant costumed marching band.
The Catharsis Junkies, who will create living "Sculpture Burlesque" installations, inspired the revolutionary CARNAVAL theme.
A live painting battle between Ennis Alexander Martin III & Erik Stenberb.
The Ordeal, a combined DJ-live music act featuring Collaboraction favorites Mikhail Fiksel and Miles Polaski.
Les Enfants Terribles, a popular Bouffant troupe, presents a clown, commedia and flash performance.
A Collaboraction-led theatrical revolution
Additional programming includes the work of over more than 50 Collaboraction artists and performances by Isis Rose & The 4orty 5ives, Double DJ, Shazam Bangles, Carron Little and The Bread March (live twitter feed).
Also, there will be a Date Auction. People can bid online before the event to win a date with one of four people to CARNAVAL on Saturday. The highest bidder will get a date, free admission, free drinks and free $50 gift certificate to a Wicker Park restaurant - the Date candidates and details are posted on Collaboraction's blog.
Revolutionary masquerade encouraged, but not required.
