Logan Square's CTA Blue Line stop is about to get more colorful. Beauty and Brawn Art Gallery, in collaboration with artist Rachel Slotnick, recently started work on a 200-foot mural at the stop.

Gallery owner Lindsey Meyers has waited almost eight years for the chance to artistically transform this space.

"I had basically given up on adopting the wall until recently when Rachel and I discussed doing a mural that would truly embrace the color and flavor of my neighborhood," she said in a statement. Meyers aims for neighborhood collaboration on the piece, highlighting all of the neighborhood's cultural groups.

Artists will use collage, mirrors and gemstones while completing the collage, allowing light to glimmer and bounce off the piece.

"I am interested in wall as living spaces," Slotnick said in a release. "I want the wall to keep growing and changing as the world does."

A big part of the mural, which features a peacock and tiger, is getting the community involved.

Residents can participate in the Gallery's Paint and Participate series, taking place Friday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 7pm; Sunday, Aug. 31 from 1 to 3pm; and Monday, Sept. 1 from 1 to 3pm.

The mural will be unveiled on Sept. 13 at 4pm, followed by a reception at Beauty and Brawn.
