Mary Cassatt was born in the United States and went to Paris to study art. Cassatt became friends with some Impressionist artists and was invited to exhibit her paintings with these artists. Here Cassatt paints a young child on a woman's lap. Describe the way this child is sitting. Describe the child's expression. Take a close look at this painting.
