HSE Tops the Ranking of Universities Leading in Technology Entrepreneurship

HSE University has taken a leading position in the university ranking prepared by the 'Expert' analytical centre. The ‘Techpred-50’ ranking evaluates the success of educational institutions in training founders of technology startups over the period from 2014 to 2023. HSE University has entered the Top-3, alongside MIPT and Moscow State University.

HSE University Welcomes a New Group of Postdocs

This autumn, 55 early-career researchers will start working at HSE University's campuses in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Perm. In addition to PhDs who are Russian citizens, HSE is welcoming colleagues from Poland, Kazakhstan, and India who have earned their degrees from Russian universities. On September 17-18, orientation events were held for them at HSE University.

On 23 September, at the Russian House in Jakarta, the delegation from HSE University in St Petersburg, headed by Director Anna Tyshetskaya, introduced Indonesian school students and their parents to the educational programmes at the university and the opportunities for studying in Russia.

HSE Scientists Have Developed a New Model of Electric Double Layer

This new model accounts for a wide range of ion-electrode interactions and predicts a device's ability to store electric charge. The model's theoretical predictions align with the experimental results. Data on the behaviour of the electric double layer can aid in the development of more efficient supercapacitors for portable electronics and electric vehicles.

HSE University and Yandex to Host International AI Olympiad for Students

The HSE Faculty of Computer Science and Yandex Education are launching their first joint AI competition, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis Olympiad (AIDAO), for students from around the world. Participants will tackle challenging tasks in science and industry and interact with experts from HSE and Yandex. The winners will receive cash prizes.

In August, the CPD Centre of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science hosted the summer school 'Cardiogenetics: From Sequencing to Constructing a Cardio Panel,' organised in collaboration with the RAS Institute of Analytical Instrumentation, the RAS Institute of Spectroscopy, and the Syntol company.

HSE University Graduate School of Business Takes First Place in the Ranking of Business Schools in Russia

The ranking, compiled by the ‘MBA in Moscow and Russia’ web portal, was based on the assessment of graduates of MBA and Executive MBA programmes. This year, 1,290 graduates from 35 business schools in Russia participated in the survey.

Nikolay Bogdanov, from Bulgaria, graduated from the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences in 2022. Currently, he is based in the Netherlands, where he pursues a master's degree and works as a life coach. In an interview with the HSE News Service, Nikolay shares his professional challenges and achievements, as well as the importance of teamwork, persistent curiosity, and self-improvement.

During my first year of the Master’s degree, I had the opportunity to meet professors and students with a highly competitive level in regional studies, Asian studies, and international relations. The programme is multidisciplinary, giving the opportunity, through courses and elective subjects, to focus your studies and converge them with your academic interests

I feel excited to delve into researching political regimes and conflicts among countries. I aim to achieve my goal of addressing pressing issues such as poverty, inequality, education, healthcare, and human rights violations through policy advocacy.

I researched online the best master's programmes in Russia for international students, and HSE's programmes stood out, so I decided to study here. I enjoyed my programme and had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

I’ve already learnt much more than I expected. Everything we study is done in great detail. You do not stop after learning a theory: you need to understand how this theory is linked to the model and the empirics. Back in Ghana, I had heard about racism in Russia. However, since arriving, I’ve never felt any discrimination. Russians are very nice. What I’ve seen is totally different from what was portrayed in the media.
