From co-actors to alleged lovers to foes, Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut have come a long way. It all unfolded in the beginning of 2016 when a 'silly ex' comment by Kangana Ranaut opened a can of worms and gave way to one of Bollywood's biggest controversies. Soon enough, the rumours of Hrithik and Kangana love affair and break-up spread like wildfire. While the Bollywood fans watched the drama unfold, Hrithik and Kangana slapped legal notices at each other. If Kangana made the ex-files public by divulging a few details about their relationship, Hrithik accused Kangana of stalking him online and sending him 50 mails a day.

And thus began the ugliest legal battle between two actors. The romantic emails exchanged between the two, which were a kind of a proof of their relationship, became public. While Kangana stuck to her side of the story, Hrithik pleaded that it was an imposter who was chatting with Kangana all this while. But that seems to be all the past now as the case filed by Hrithik with the Cyber Crime department regarding an imposter has been closed. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the case has been dissolved due to lack of evidence.

A source was quoted as telling the daily, "We have been unable to find anything on the mail ID as the server is located in the US. Now it is very difficult to ascertain who was using the account. Still, we will try to conclude (the case) from the available evidence."

Kangana's lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, "We are not surprised to learn that the police have, after a thorough investigation, filed a NIL report, which means that they could not trace any imposter as was claimed by Hrithik Roshan. Kangana has always been maintaining that there was no imposter ever," Siddiquee said.

The legal case, which made headlines for all these months, has come to an abrupt end with this new development. But it wasn't just this alleged romantic liaison with Kangana that kept Hrithik in news this year. Here are other controversies that gave Hrithik some sleepless nights in 2016.

Rumours of Hrithik and ex-wife Sussanne Khan getting back together
If his ex-files were made public, the rumours of Junior Roshan getting back with ex-wife Sussanne also spread like wildfire. From spotted partying together to celebrating their son's birthday to vacationing in foreign locales together, Hrithik and Sussanne did grab many eyeballs. But soon enough, Sussanne took to Twitter to put to rest to all such rumours and wrote, "I request people to stop speculating. There will never be a reconciliation with @iHrithik. But we will always be good parents. #no1priority (sic)."

Fallout between Hrithik Roshan and Ashutosh Gowariker
Hrithik Roshan's much-anticipated film Mohenjo Daro with filmmaker Ahsutosh Gowariker bombed badly at the box office. And this led to a fallout between the actor-director duo. Reports started doing the rounds that Hrithik is furious over the film's debacle and holds Ashutosh responsible for its box-office fate. Even dad Rakesh roshan took potshots at Ashutosh and blamed bad VFX for the failure of Mohenjo Daro. In an interview to Mid-Day, Senior Roshan said, "Though director Ashutosh Gowariker had a vision, what did not work were the last 20 minutes of the film. The VFX failed it, things appeared tacky. The last few reels of a film always stay in the audience's mind, and that's where the film did not work."

Kaabil vs Raees clash
The box office clash between Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan's Raees has been the talk of the town. Despite innumerable requests from Shah Rukh, Hrithik and dad Rakesh are in no mood to change the release date of their film Kaabil. Buzz has it that none of them is ready to give up on the release date. Hrithik in an interview to PTI has said that clash won't affect his friendship with SRK. "Shah Rukh and I are friends and we both know each other well enough to make sure that there is absolutely no negativity. In fact it's hopefully going to be the most positive experience for both of us and our fans," he said.
