Tucked in a quiet corner of Dawson City, the Jack London Museum is dedicated entirely to the life and writing of White Fang author Jack London. Browse through historical archives and photographs while learning about London’s adventures before, during and after the Klondike Gold Rush. Explore this quaint museum on your own, or visit during one of our interactive and informative presentations.
As an extra treat, take a peek inside the home where London resided during his days as a Klondike gold seeker; complete with period appropriate furnishing and objects fit for a stampeder. This replica is built from half of the logs from London’s original cabin, which was located on the North Fork of Henderson Creek; the other half resides in London’s hometown of Oakland, California.
Our Story
The Jack London Museum & Cabin tells the story of Jack London’s adventures from his time in the Klondike and the subsequent hunt for the aforementioned cabin where he lived during the winter of 1897.
In 1897, Jack London spent a year in the Klondike. He tried his hand at mining, but mostly spent time coming up with stories that would one day make him famous. His winter was spent in a cabin near Henderson Creek. 60 years after abandoning this site to get relief from his scurvy, Dick North searched and discovered the cabin where Jack London once lived.
The story of London, the North and the investigation into his cabin are told through interpretation and photographs at the Jack London Museum. Come visit us today to discover the story behind the cabin and Jack London’s northern adventures!
