Jason Cirillo: Video Game Theory, History and Design (original) (raw)

Hi! I Think I’m Back?

December 13, 2012

Hi there! I decided I want to blog again. I have relatively interesting things to talk about. I don’t have as much time as I used to, having a family, and my full time game development job, but I want to share some neat stuff I’ve found and some weird ideas I have.

Before I put up my first real comeback post, check me out on Twitter in the meantime: @robotube

Stay tuned! Hopefully some of you are still out there…

Super Street Fighter IV is Super.

April 27, 2010

Went to a midnight launch, which I NEVER do. That is how tingly this game made me feel. We’re talking SUPER TINGLY.

I’m not going to review this game or tell you what it’s about, because you may have heard of a thing called the “Innernutz” where you can read all about it. I will say this:

PlayStation Network. My name is “Robotube”.

I await your ass-kicking, which I will undoubtedly receive from you.

Bit Museum #5 Coming VERY Soon!

February 10, 2010

What up playaz? It has been a dreadfully long time, but the latest episode of Bit Museum is finally finished. In fact, episode #5 was delayed for some pretty good reasons. We moved our office out of the location you saw in the previous Bit Museum episodes, so #5 will be the last episode that was filmed in our old New Haven location. New episodes will be filmed in a brand new, totally swanky new place. Stay tuned for details on that!

Anyway, when we moved, ep. #5 sort of got lost in the shuffle, but we were able to resurrect the footage and bring it back, and now we’re just rendering the final cut. It’s coming super soon!!

If you’re new to Bit Museum, you’re definitely in for a real treat. Bit Museum is a show about video game history and design, with special focus on behind-the-scenes info on obscure, unknown and fascinating pieces from around the world. If you are a gamer, you owe it to yourself to watch this show. You’re guaranteed to learn something awesome.

Gaijin Games Releases RUNNER Video

February 5, 2010

Must fire out hot, steamy propers where hot, steamy propers are due. This first video of Bit.Trip Runner over at IGN looks fine indeed. I must say, Commander Video is more svelte and atheltic than I judged him for. He must do very well with the ladies.

Obscure Arcade Game History: “I’m Sorry”

January 26, 2010

On another one of my commute-in gaming sessions, I played one of my favorite obscure and very weird arcade games, “I’m Sorry” by Sega. Chuckling to myself as much as ever as I played, I realized I needed to share this with you guys. It’s such a brilliantly ridiculous game, and it needs to be given some spotlight.

Interview over at NintendoLife: Bloktonik, Bit Museum, Indie Gaming

January 20, 2010

Been a while since I’ve updated….the holidays and some big changes in the everyday routine grabbed me and shook me all up and made me all disoriented, and just now I’m starting to get my bearings again. It was like a giant hand of the Universe came out of the sky and slapped me around.

So! I was interviewed over at NintendoLife, which is just an awesome wesbite. I’ll let you guess what they discuss over there. OK, ya got me, I can’t contain myself….Nintendo!! We shoot the breeze about Bloktonik coming to consoles, the behind-the-scenes shiznats on Bit Museum, and some other little secret nice things.

Go on over and check it out!
