Disney Junior has picked up the second season of Istanbul, Turkey-based Mart Agency’s 26 x five-minute 3D-animated series Limon and Oli.
The series for kids ages five to eight made its Disney Junior debut on March 23 across 111 markets consisting of Poland, South Africa, Greece, Romania, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe.
Now airing daily on Disney Junior at 7:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:40 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., Limon and Oli is based on Turkey’s most beloved licensed comic strip, created by famous Turkish cartoonist Salih Memecan in 1991.
Known as Sizinkiler in Turkey, Limon and Oli comics reflect the humorous everyday lives of a family of birds—Limon, her mother Çıtçıt, father Babişko and playful best friend Oli.
Mart Agency, which holds the exclusive licensing rights to the Limon and Oli property, has seen the brand expand across print, digital media, consumer products and TV.
Since 1994, more than three million books from a range of 100 books (comic collections, magazines, sticker and cooking) have been sold, an app has launched and season one of Mart’s animated TV series debuted on Turkey’s TRT Children in 2013.
Additional licensees in Turkey include Neco Toys (plush), Zorlu Textile (bedding), Keskin Color (stationery) and LC Waikiki (apparel).
