The Lucan St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a free family day out in Lucan. The parade is held every year since 1991 on St. Patrick’s Day 17th March. This year St. Patrick’s Day falls on the Bank Holiday Monday. Lucan St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a non-profit, volunteer lead, organisation funded by a Community Grant from South Dublin County Council, donations from Lucan Traders, and various fundraising events held during the year.
Start Time
The Lucan Parade takes place at 3pm on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday 17th March.
Parade assembly
The parade will assemble and commence at the large green located at Green Park Road / Westbrook Park / Hillcrest Close in Hillcrest (adjacent to Tesco) from 2pm, be in place by 2:30pm.
Parade route
The Parade commences at 3pm sharp and proceeds down Dodsboro Road, under the N4 bridge onto the Leixlip Road, past McDonalds, onwards towards The Bally Alley pub, and into Lucan Village, past the review stand located adjacent to Coffee Works / Carrolls / Muintir na Tire and disperses up through the village past Lucan Demesne and House.
The parade takes two hours approximately to complete the route.
Road closures
Road closures from 2pm to 6pm approx. The following are the road closures:
Dodsboro Road / Tandys Lane
Old Celbridge Road
Lucan Road from the Village to St Marys Church
Adamstown Road from Courtneys to N4
No through road through the village
Chapel Hill Open for north bound traffic crossing the Liffey Bridge
Public Transport Diversions
Please visit Dublin Bus for information on C3, C4 and L54 diversions during the parade.

Parade Marshal
This year we are very pleased to welcome the Little Blue Heroes as the 2025 Parade Marshals.
Little Blue Heroes Foundation was established in April 2017 and is a not for profit registered charity. It is a voluntary led charity with one person from the community to operate the day to day running’s of the charity. It is supported by An Garda Síochána and the Garda Commissioner. The charity receives no state funding and relies heavily on community support to enable it to provide its services to families in need.
The charity’s two main aims are providing financial support to families directly or indirectly through many of our programmes. It’s second aim is granting the wish of the children we support to become Honorary Gardaí within An Garda Síochána. The children are issued their own Garda uniform and are welcomed into the force by their local Gardai. To date the charity have assisted 760 families and have 408 Honorary Gardai across the country.
