Diagonal

A diagonal of a square matrix which is traversed in the "southeast" direction. "The" diagonal (or "main diagonal," or "principal diagonal," or "leading diagonal") of an n×n square matrix is the diagonal from a_(11) to a_(nn).

The solidus symbol / used to denote division (e.g., a/b) is sometimes also known as a diagonal.
