Protist EST Program (PEP)
- PEP is a large-scale, collaborative research project, involving eight Canadian research groups. It aims at the exploration of the diversity of eukaryotic genomes by cDNA sequencing. The focus will be on unicellular microbial eukaryotes, known as protists.
- A database (TBestDB) manages, organizes, analyses and dissiminates immense body of data generated by PEP.
The analysis workbench AnaBench has been developed that allows seamless access to sequence analysis tools.
Organelle Genome Megasequencing Program (OGMP)
- The OGMP is an interdisciplinary collaboration of seven Canadian research groups. Sequence determination of complete organelle genomes provides the data for genome bioinformatics, the investigation of organelle genome evolution and the molecular phylogeny of protists.

Organelle Genome Database (GOBASE)
- GOBASE is a relational organelle genome database, which integrates sequence data, RNA secondary structures, physical and gene maps, information on biochemical pathways, taxonomy, evolution, and more. Defunct as of 2017-04.

Fungal Mitochondrial Genome Project (FMGP)
- The goal of FMGP is to sequence complete mitochondrial genomes from all major fungal lineages, to resolve the fungal branch of the 'tree of life', and to investigate mitochondrial gene expression, introns and mobile elements.

Protist Image Data (PID)
- The PID provides images and online information on the morphology, taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships of protists.
International Society for Evolutionary Protistology (ISEP)
Historically, this site is an initiative of the OGMP and included the Protist Image Database (PID) and MegaGopher. In the following years, two further independent projects have been added complementing the OGMP research activities: GOBASE and FMGP. The more recently added PEP project builds on our expertise gathered in the OGMP, but its research focus is on the nuclear genome (or the expressed portion of it) of eukaryotes. While the grants for the collaborative programs OGMP (CIHR) and PEP (GenomeQuebec/GenomeCanada) have come to their end, organelle genome and EST sequencing in protists is ongoing at a smaller scale in our laboratories.
