Some statistics

It's almost impossible to know how many MSX systems are sold around the world.It's even harder to know how many systems nowadays are used but too give you an estimation ....

• In France aproximatly 65 000 machines were sold between 1984 and 1987. Almost 1/3 of these machines are MSX2 machines. The MSX started to decline at mai 87 when Sony retrive it self from the market. Philips stopped at the end of the year. All the other constructors followed their example.
• In Belgium almost 20 000 machines were sold of which 2/3 were MSX2 systems.
• In Suisse about 2 000 MSX's were sold. This number was because of the incridibily exagerated price of 5500F for a MSX2 computer !!!
• In Italy : 80 000 machines. 1/3 of them were MSX2.
• In the U.K. the selling of MSX stopped already in 1986 after reaching a number of +/- 18 000 machines.
• In the Nederlands : 400 000 Machines. There is still a lot of MSX activity in these regions.
• The number of sold systems in Spain : 160 000 sold systems.
• In the Former USSR aprox 1 000 000 machines were sold.
  A large amount of these machines were sold to schools.
  One of them was even launched into orbit.
• In the United Arabian Emirates 1 300 000 sold units.
• In the USA just a few thousand MSX's were sold !!!
• But MSX is a system with its roots in Japan.
  MORE THAN 5 000 000 MSX IN JAPAN
  A great amount of these 5 000 000 were the advanced Turbo R systems.
