Fire at the Three Horseshoes Inn

The fire destroyed the inn's thatched roof

Embers in a chimney were the cause of a fire which destroyed the roof of an historic pub, according to Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire broke out at the 17th Century Three Horseshoes in Abbots Ripton near Huntingdon on Tuesday.

The building, which was recently refurbished, was badly damaged.

Passersby rescued a man from inside the building before more than 50 firefighters arrived at the scene to tackle the flames.
