Madonna scored her first UK number one album almost 25 years ago

Madonna's latest album Hard Candy has gone straight to number one in the UK.

That means she has a chart double, with her song 4 Minutes, featuring Justin Timberlake, on top of the singles rundown for a third week.

Hard Candy is Madonna's 10th number one album, and has kept trip-hop group Portishead's comeback in second place.

Portishead's Third - the Bristol band's first release for more than 10 years - is a new entry at number two, followed by Rockferry by Duffy at three.

Last week's number one, The Last Shadow Puppets - a collaboration between Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner and The Rascals frontman Miles Kane - have dropped to four.
