Leicester City have fined defender Frank Sinclair two weeks' wages after the incident in a Heathrow Hotel which resulted in four Chelsea players being reprimanded.

The former Stamford Bridge full-back was with Jody Morris, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Eidur Gudjohnsen in the Posthouse Hotel, which was packed with American tourists the day after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

"I wish to publicly apologise for my behaviour," said a statement issued by Sinclair at Filbert Street.

"There was no intention to show any disrespect to the people of America. I deeply regret any embarrassment that has been caused."

Leicester manager Peter Taylor said he would still consider selecting Sinclair for Wednesday's Premiership game at Newcastle but was clearly disappointed with the player's conduct.

"I cannot understand what happened, especially the timing of it," said Taylor.

"The days when professionals went out drinking in the afternoon was many moons ago."

Chelsea also fined their quartet who went on a five-hour drinking binge in a hotel packed with American tourists grieving over the US terror attacks.

Lampard, Terry, Morris and Gudjohnsen stripped off, swore and vomited at the Posthouse hotel just 24 hours after the attacks.

The hotel, which is near Heathrow airport, was full of Americans stranded by flight cancellations.

Chelsea's Uefa Cup match against Bulgarian team Levski Sofia had been called off as a mark of respect for victims of the attacks, giving the players a night off.
