Darren Huckerby scored early on

Darren Huckerby's early goal was enough to extend Norwich's lead at the top of Division One.

It was an impressive victory over nine-man Wimbledon as the Dons' woes continued at the bottom of the table.

Huckerby and Jim Brennan also hit the woodwork from 18-yards out as lowly Wimbledon toiled.

Wimbledon goalkeeper Steve Banks was sent off for deliberate handball and Mark Williams was dismissed for abusive language.

Norwich's winner came following a fantastic 40-yard cross-field pass from Northern Ireland midfielder Paul McVeigh.

The ball fell to Huckerby, who unleashed a first-time volley from 18 yards into the top corner in the 16th minute.

Wimbledon themselves also had one chalked off as referee Michael Ryan deemed Dean Holdsworth to have fouled Malky Mackay.

But Wimbledon's hopes of salvaging an equaliser ended with that double sending off.
