Iain Diack's first-half hat-trick secured victory for Brechin over East of Scotland league side Edinburgh City in the Homecoming Scottish Cup.

Diack netted his first in the fifth minute to give the second division side an early lead in the third-round tie.

Any chance of an upset looked to be over in the 16th minute when the 27-year-old grabbed his second.

And Diack scored just before the break from the penalty spot to set up Brechin with a home match against St Mirren.
