Airdrie Utd 1-2 Dunfermline

Graham Bayne celebrates his winner in the Scottish Cup tie against Airdrie

Graham Bayne fired home the winner to send the Pars into the last eight

Graham Bayne's strike 17 minutes from time secured Dunfermline's place in the last eight of the Homecoming Scottish Cup at Airdrie's expense.

The Pars opened the scoring after two minutes when Graeme Holmes fired a superb shot into the top corner.

Airdrie equalised from the spot through Scott McLaughlin after Joe Cardle was fouled in the box by Greg Ross.

Bayne sealed a quarter-final tie against Aberdeen with a stunning 18-yard volley past Stephen Robertson.

Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre:

"Big Bayney just doesn't seem to score tap-ins. He's not the most prolific, but what he gives us is raw power.

"We'll certainly do our utmost to give Aberdeen a good game in the next round, that's for sure.

"We've got good players in our side; players who have played in cup finals and in the Premier League for a long time.

"It's up to them to show they can still go and play at that level."
