BBC Sport - Football - Bristol City sign Kalifa Cisse from Reading (original) (raw)
Cisse joined Reading on a three-year deal in 2007
Bristol City have signed Reading midfielder Kalifa Cisse.
The 26-year-old Mali international will link up again with his old manager Steve Coppell on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The City manager paid Portuguese club Boavista just under £1m for Cisse in May 2007, when he was in charge at the Madejski Stadium.
Cisse, who can also play in defence, made 16 appearances, three as a substitute, for Reading last season.
"He's a good player and in a very competitive and a big squad at Reading and maybe his future there was limited by the large number of young players they have coming through," Coppell told BBC Radio Bristol.
"I'm not of a mind to take as many players as possible from my old clubs, but I spoke to Brian [McDermott] there and he mentioned Kalifa and I thought 'he'd do for me' - he's an excellent addition to our squad."
