Cardiff City have signed Livingston goalkeeper Neil Alexander for a nominal fee.

The Scottish club, who recently won promotion to the Premier League, agreed to release him after they signed Malaga keeper Javier Broto.

Said Livingston manager Jim Leishman: "I have spoken to Bobby Gould this morning (Monday), and we have agreed to let Neil Alexander join them.

"We wish him all the best.

"You'd have to ask them how much he cost. But put it this way; it won't give me an awful lot to spend.

"But Javier Broto has agreed to sign for us. He was at Airdrie last year and he impressed me during a short-term spell here last season."
