Celtic striker Paul McGowan has joined St Mirren on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old has made eight first-team appearances for Celtic, netting his only goal against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League last season.

McGowan made 60 appearances during the two other loan spells with Hamilton Accies and Morton.

"I need to start playing games so I'm looking forward to being with St Mirren," McGowan told the St Mirren website. "It's a new challenge for me."

McGowan scored 16 goals in 44 matches for Morton in 2007 and the Greenock club had an £80,000 offer, plus 25% of any ongoing transfer, rejected by Celtic.
