BBC SPORT | DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC (original) (raw)
Premier League newcomers Dunfermline are on the verge of signing PSV Eindhoven central defender Andrius Skerla.
The 23-year-old Lithuanian international has agreed terms with the club who must now wait to see if their application for a work permit is successful.
Skerla has 22 caps for Lithuania and was signed by Bobby Robson for PSV in 1997.
He missed last season through injury but has now returned to full fitness.
Dunfermline manager Jimmy Calderwood said: "The deal for Skerla is virtually signed, sealed and delivered."
The Lithuanian has signed a three-year contract, subject to being granted a work permit, though the transfer fee involved has not been disclosed.
He joins Stevie Crawford, Lee Bullen, Stewart Petrie, and Dutch trio Michel Doesburg, Rob Matthaei and goalkeeper Marco Ruitenbeek on the list of close-season signings at East End Park.
