Lee Makel has enjoyed two spells with Livingston

Midfielder Lee Makel has left Livingston to take up a player-coaching role at Swedish side OFK Ostersund.

The 35-year-old has signed a 12-month contract with further options available to him should the move be a success.

"It has always been an ambition of mine to play abroad and this was just too good an opportunity to turn down," he told BBC Sport.

Makel will join his new team-mates this weekend in Norway as they prepare for the start of the Swedish season.

OFK Ostersund play in the second tier of Swedish football.

The former Hearts and Dunfermline midfielder began his second spell at Almondvale in August 2006.

Makel had earlier helped Livi win the 2004 CIS Insurance Cup towards the end of his first two-and-a-half year stint.
