McGregor said he was delighted to extend his deal at Ibrox

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has signed a new three-year contract with the Ibrox club.

The 25-year-old has established himself as Walter Smith's first-choice keeper after falling out of favour under previous boss Paul Le Guen.

McGregor said: "I'm here for another three years now and I'm delighted.

"I wanted to leave last year because I didn't think I was going to play. The only reason I did get in the team was because of Lionel Letizi's injury."

The Scot, who earned his first call-up to the Scotland squad in February, made his European debut for Rangers last season against Molde, when Letizi was out injured.

"It can take someone else's misfortune to give you that chance, so I'm glad it happened and that I stayed at the club in the end," he said.

McGregor played in last Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Stuttgart in the Champions League and has been in impressive form in the Scottish Premier League.
