Rangers midfielder Kyle Hutton has signed a two-year contract extension with the Ibrox club.

Hutton, who has started two Champions League matches this season, followed the lead of fellow youngster Jamie Ness in penning a new deal with the club.

The 20-year-old, who has come through the ranks at Rangers, is now under contract until at least 2014.

"Signing a new deal is a massive thing for me and I'm absolutely delighted," Hutton told Blues News.

"This season I have been happy with the way things have gone and I have been given the chance to play in really big games.

"My goal after that was to keep going and try to get an extension so that I can stay at the club.

"I have that now and I am over the moon."

The youngster, who has made four substitute appearances in the league for Rangers this season, is hoping signing a new deal will be a springboard to more first team action.

"It has been pretty special but as soon as you get a taste of playing for the first team you want more.

"So far I have managed to play in the Champions League and not many get the chance to gain that experience.

"I am grateful for that but every time you pull on a blue jersey it's a proud moment and you have to go out and do your best.

"It can be difficult at times because you don't always have a lot of match fitness but you have to be ready and try to take your chance," he added.
